Welcome
This is the companion site to the book
Writing scientific research articles: Strategy and steps
by Margaret Cargill and Patrick O'Connor,
which guides you in how to write, as well as what to write, to improve your chances of having your articles accepted for publication.
The book is designed for you if you are
- an early-career researcher wanting to hone your skills as an author and a mentor;
- a scientist interested in using English more effectively, as a first or an additional language;
- a research student in the sciences, or
- someone who teaches paper writing skills to research students or career scientists.
You can check out the book's contents here.
In order to make the learning experience specific to your field of research, this site is progressively being provided with examples of research papers in different scientific fields, to complement the two examples found in the book. We hope you find them useful and we welcome feedback.
If English is not your home language, you may also find it useful to read the information about concordancing software available on the site.
